One of the planet’s most iconic sea-kayaking destinations is Espiritu Santo. The UNESCO site and Mexican National Park island provides magnificent camping beaches and unbeatable scenery. Each day can be a new adventure with the off-shore islands, rugged shoreline and series of headlands and deep bays. Espiritu’s west coast provides you with some of the most amazing white, sandy bays while the east coast is dotted with alluring sea caves, ginormous towering cliffs and oddly shaped rock formations. Each day there is plenty of time allowed for snorkeling, hiking up intriguing volcanic arroyos, swimming amongst sea lion pups, watching manta rays leaping out of the water, bask in the beautiful Baja sun, observe a school of dolphins, explore and discover secret inland lagoons and be sure to sip a margarita or two and relax in great company. Isla Espiritu Santo really is paddling in paradise!

Mexico is bordered by the United States to the North, Pacific Ocean to the South, Guatemala, Belize and the Caribbean Sea to the South East and the Gulf of Mexico to the East. The two mountain ranges Sierra Madre Oriental and Sierra Madre Occidental cross Mexico from North to South and are an extension of the Rocky Mountains from North America. At the centre, from East to West, Mexico is crossed by the Trans-Mexican volcanic belt, commonly known as the Sierra Nevada. Sierra Madre del Sur is a fourth mountain range that runs from Michoacán to Oxaca. The Tropic of Cancer separates Mexico into two zones, temperature and tropic, both of which have constant temperatures. Mexico is the ideal destination for any adventure, home to vast mountain regions and and huge variety of wildlife.

DAY 2: Transfer to Espiritu Santo Island

Our high-speed motor boat will transfer you from your hotel in La Paz to Espiritu Santo Island. Your guides will be discussing your safety and providing any beginners with the basics of sea kayaking and how to correctly use the gear and kayaks. Later on in the afternoon we will begin our first paddle beneath breath-taking volcanic cliffs and arrive onto the first of many stunning beaches to set up camp.

DAY 3: Discover the coastline and its seabirds

You will wake up to the sounds of the sea…

After our breakfast, once the tents have been packed up, we continue on in our kayaks to explore a new area of coastline with small off-shore islands that are inhabited by numerous sea bird nests. The next bay along has an intriguing canyon with dry waterfall and a fresh water well, perfect for a refreshing rinse! Tonight, we camp on a new beach.

DAY 4: Kayaking to Ensenada Grande

Following on from breakfast we will pack our tents away and kayak to the North end of the island, crossing over to Isla Partida before setting up base camp for a couple of days in Ensenada Grande.

DAY 5: Boat rides, sea lions and snorkeling with tropical fish

Today is our lay over day, a good opportunity to relax those paddling muscles! A boat ride will take us out to an exquisite off shore islet in which a large sea lion colony call home. Here you will be able to experience the fantastic thrill of swimming with sea lion pups and snorkeling amongst schools of tropical fish.

We will then head back to our camp in time for a sunset dinner.

DAY 6: Paddle along the east coast

We work our way around the North end of the island for our first paddle along the East coast. Here you will find a sharp contrast in scenery with breath-taking cliffs that tower above. Our paddle will take us through a narrow channel between Espiritu Santo and Isla Partida to an idyllic setting – a natural turquoise ‘swimming pool’ which happens to be the location of our next camp spot.

DAY 7: Kayak through stunning scenery of towering cliffs

After breakfast and camp admin has been completed, we embark on a dramatic paddle beneath towering cliffs that are over 2000ft tall. We do find a reward with the sea caves, which those who are skilful navigators can paddle through with ease. In the afternoon, we will be arriving at our favourite camp spot – a beautiful, picturesque 2 mile stretch of superb sweeping white sand.

DAY 8: Final day sea kayaking

We have reached our final morning sea-kayaking in order to complete our circumnavigation. After lunch we will be returning to La Paz via speed boat. Check in to your hotel. Finally, to end off the trip there is a farewell dinner together.

DAY 9: Depart La Paz
