Exciting North Sea Passage – 20/09

Oriole: 20th September
After an exciting passage across the North Sea, the crew was delighted to make land at Out Skerries. A late afternoon walk revealed a shop, a shop’s cat, some great views of the islands, a kirk with an organ (ably played by Allson), and mobile reception. No pub on the island, but three Coronas were found in the fridge from the last voyage (thanks, Susie). Our trip from Out Skerries to Lerwick was a superb day’s sailing. Constant breeze, sunshine, and no rain made it so good that Navigator Bill must have thrown in some extra tacks to keep us out on the water for as long as possible. Arriving in Lerwick, hot showers at the sailing club followed by dinner at a local restaurant completed a great day.
