Hummingbird arrives in the Faroes

So the wind finally did what we needed and in the last few hours of the morning we suddenly turned towards Suderoy, this after spending the night thinking we would be pushing on to Torshavn due to the direction. You never know where landfall will be made and this was a prime example of keeping your plans flexible to maximise your opportunity. We berthed alongside a small quay at 2pm pretty much exactly 48 hours from exiting Stornoway harbour. A little slower than planned but sailed all the way bar the last couple of hours. A fantastic achievement by our mainly novice crew. Once customs was cleared, (a nice and fast formality here!), and the boat put to bed the crew explored ashore. Some made a bee line for the showers while others hiked up a 300-400m high ridge for views to the more northern islands. I can confirm that these views were so worth the effort to get up, simply incredible. A chilled evening was topped off with the skipper playing chef in the galley and finished with a superb chocolate orange cake as we enjoyed the calm evening and glorious sun!
