Hummingbird heads to Dublin on the Passage Making Masterclass
Our day in St Mary’s was perfectly completed with dinner ashore and this morning saw an early start to catch the last of the North flowing tide to the east of the Scillies. Our plan of a Yankee 2, stay sail and reefed main has been perfect as we have reached in a steady force 5 all the way north across the Celtic Sea and o to the Lee of Eire. We could not have wished for better conditions and the crew have loved helming Hummingbird in conditions for which she was clearly designed. This evening saw the sun set on the shortest night of the year and we look forward to a sunny solstice tomorrow. The clear skies hold a promise of a starry delight and our tremendous speeds have us well ahead of the schedule forecast of the passage plan.
What a cracking day!
