Tacking through the Sound of Mull
Posted in : Hummingbird
After finishing off the briefs this morning, the crew of Hummingbird have packed a lot into today. It’s a good job Emma fed us so well at breakfast!
We left in breezy conditions, doing our first hoisting of the main, putting two reefs in. It was a wet and windy start, but it turned into a really nice sailing day. The sunnies even made an appearance this afternoon! We learn how the the headsails went up, how to shake out reefs, and lots of learning about tacking.
And after a total of 27 tacks sending us well on our way to becoming a finely tuned tacking machine, we are looking forward to the feast cooked by Phillip tonight now we are tied up in Tobermory. We’ve earnt it for sure!
