This is a truly exhilarating high-latitude offshore sailing expedition from Iceland to Scotland. From the moment we leave harbour, you are part of the crew, helping plan routes, standing watch, helming, navigating, and managing the boat as we sail south. Our first landfall is the Westman Islands, and a chance to explore this remote volcanic archipelago off Iceland’s south coast, home to vast puffin colonies, dramatic cliffs and rich whale waters where fin, minke and humpback whales are regularly seen. From there we shape a 2-3 day offshore passage towards St Kilda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most isolated and difficult island groups to reach in the world. Landing is far from guaranteed, but if we are fortunate, we have a place of rare beauty and drama to explore. A final sail awaits through the Hebridean Islands, world famous for their castles and single malt whisky distilleries, before our final landfall near Glasgow.
Don’t miss out – this trip runs for the final time in 2026
What this voyage is really about
This is offshore sailing between Iceland and Scotland through exposed North Atlantic water. From the start you are part of the crew, standing watch, helming, navigating and handling sail changes as we head south. We plan around forecasts and sea state, adjusting the route as needed. The Westman Islands and St Kilda are spectacular landfalls, with time to explore ashore, but as much of the experience is the offshore sailing itself. Life on board is practical, training and team focused.
Why this route stands out
Quite simply, this is one of the most exciting and evocative offshore sailing adventures, with the puffins and whales of the Westman Isles, the possibility (weather dependent) of exploring UNESCO St Kilda and then Scotland’s Hebridean islands. It is the perfect mixture of manageable offshore legs of 2-3 days long, coastal sailing and exploration ashore. The high latitude makes for lots of daylight and short nights.
Who this trip suits
You do not need previous experience in high latitude or offshore sailing, and this route is, in fact, ideal for those wanting to try either for the first time. The prevailing weather should mean great sailing, very manageable conditions and pleasant temperatures. You will receive expert training and be encouraged to be fully involved and try your hand at everything. All we ask is a great, can-do attitude and that you are prepared to be fully involved in the crew.
